FAQ's for Consumers

How do I reschedule my appointment? You may contact our Front Desk at 695-6500 during regular office hours. If it is after hours you can leave a message at that number, but please do not call the On Call phone, as that is for emergency calls only.

How do I know which after hours number to call? If you are receiving Community Support Services call 325-4211 after hours. If you are receiving regular outpatient services call 320-8956. If you are working with Intensive Family Preservation or Intensive In-Home Services please contact the number you received from them for after hours.

What if I am having a problem with my medication? If it is an emergency call or go directly to the emergency room. If it is not an emergency and it is during Family NET office hours, you may call and ask for Shirley Spann (our psychiatric nurse). If she is not available you may leave her a message and she will return your phone call. If it is not an emergency and it is not during Family NET office hours, please wait until we open the next morning to call.

**Please Note - Our on call staff does not have access to a psychiatrist during evenings or weekends. They will advise you to contact your pharmacist or the Emergency Room.

What if I am out of my medication? This is not an emergency and should be addressed during regular office hours by contacting Shirley Spann.

I am feeling suicidal, what should I do? If it is a passing thought find someone to talk to, family member, friend, pastor. Make sure you have an appointment scheduled with your therapist and attend that appointment.

If you are having persistent thoughts of self-harm contact Family NET - If during office hours try your therapist first, but if they are not available ask for the Supervisor of the Day. You can also walk in at any time we are open (although if you can call us to let us know you are coming that would be appreciated). If it is after hours you can call our emergency on call line.

My child is out of control, what should I do? Each child, family and situation is different. First it is for question you should ask yourself is "Am I working with Intensive In-Home Services, Community Support Services, or strictly Outpatient Therapist?" If your child/family is working with Intensive In-Home or Community Support, you should contact your worker in that program instead of the general Family NET on call Number. During business hours, it is best to speak with your child's therapist, Intensive In-Home Services Team Leader, or Community Support QP, as they know the specifics of your situation and can best tailor a plan to fit the needs of the family.

If it is after hours start by following the crisis plan (if you have one). Follow the strategies suggested on your plan before calling the on call services. If this does not work try the following: think about what you have tired in the past that has helped calm the child down; then ask yourself "what can I do to calm myself down?" Since the child being upset often leads to parents becoming upset, calming yourself down can be a good first step. If you need additional assistance contact, your Community Support on call pager, Intensive In-Home Team Leader ro the Family NET emergency on call Services. The on call worker will help you determine the best course of action in responding to your child's needs.
